ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः

तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं

भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि

धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥

Om bhur-bhuvah svah

Tat savitur varenyam

Bhargo devasya dhimahi

Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat

The meaning of the Gayatri mantra is as follows:

Om: This is a sacred syllable and represents the sound of the universe and the ultimate reality.

Bhur: Refers to the physical world and our physical existence.

Bhuvah: Refers to the mental world and our existence as thoughts and emotions.

Svah: Refers to the spiritual world and our existence as spirit or consciousness.

Tat: Refers to that ultimate reality or divine essence which pervades and sustains all existence.

Savitur: Refers to the Sun, which symbolizes the divine light and wisdom.

Varenyam: Means "adorable" or "worthy of worship", indicating that we should meditate upon and worship that divine essence.

Bhargo: Refers to the divine radiance or aura, which removes all ignorance and darkness.

Devasya: Refers to the divine essence or consciousness.

Dhimahi: Means "we meditate upon", indicating that we should contemplate and focus our minds on that divine essence.

Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat: Means "may that divine essence inspire and guide our intellect and consciousness".
